Assyrian Centre in South Ealing Road

In December 2014 EFRA submitted an objection to the revised planning application to develop the Assyrian Centre at the junction of South Ealing Road and Temple Road. Although outside the EFRA area, we became involved with this series of applications in June 2013 because it is a local landmark and because there are implications for the amenity of our members in the form of proposed late night and early morning off-site parking at the car park behind and alongside the Ealing Christian Centre which is overlooked by the rear bedrooms of the homes in Blondin Avenue, Redwood Grove and Northfield Avenue.

The main grounds for objection are:

  • The failure of the proposed development to respect the externally visible frontages of this prominent local heritage building
  • Non conformity with neighbourhood character
  • Adverse impact on neighbouring properties of the proposed two-storey infills
  • Failure to provide adequate disabled access
  • Parking and traffic pressures on neighbouring residents plus the proposal to use the Ealing Christian Centre car park late at night
  • Noise from evening and weekend use of the new facilities.
