Cranmer Avenue Snooker Hall Redevelopment Appeal Rejected

Earlier this year we reported on an application to build a 3-storey block of flats on the site of the snooker hall in Cranmer Avenue. The application was rejected by Ealing Council in May but the developer subsequently appealed to the Planning Inspectorate. EFRA worked with local residents, and prepared a detailed submission to the Planning Inspector, which is attached below. P1040276 Cranmer Av Snooker Hall small.jpg

On 27 September the Planning Inspector issued the decision of upholding the council's rejection of the original application. This is good news for the Cranmer Avenue residents who are in agreement with redevelopment of the site but not of the proposed building.
The main issues that the Inspector considered were:

  • the character and appearance of the surrounding area, and on the living conditions of the future occupiers of the development with regard to space, daylight and sunlight, and outlook, and
  • the living conditions of the nearby occupiers at 186 to 198 Northfield Avenue and 1 Windings Place with regard to outlook.

It is quite likely that the developer will make a further application, and EFRA will be keeping a close watch on the situation.

The case can be found on the Planning Inspectorate web site by entering this Case Reference APP/A5270/A/10/2125636.
