Trees for Cities in Blondin Park on 6 December 2014

The charity Trees for Cities is looking for volunteers to plant 10,000 trees in Blondin Park during its Plant to the Beat festival to mark National Tree Week.

Our park ranger put in a successful bid to the charity Trees for Cities and the recent Northfield Ward Forum agreed the plans. Local residents, Ealing's park rangers and local councillors have all been involved with the design. Species include beech, wild cherry, service tree, crab apple and various types of wild rose. They are potential trees and bushes, known as 'whips' - not all will survive and the planted areas will be thinned in a few years' time.

The main planting day will be Saturday 6 December and there is a whole day of events planned around it. The project co-ordinators are now looking for volunteer planters to help on the day (from 10 am). You need to register in order to be involved (ie not just turn up on the day).
