Street Trees

Several residents have expressed concern recently about street trees in our area.  We raised these concerns with our ward councillors and following their representations we have received information from the council.

One of the biggest problems seems to have been a lack of proper communication with residents.  There was an inspection in May 2013 to check trees were healthy and safe, following which the council drew up a list of works.  We have received three documents showing the planned tree work and added them to our website.  In total 55 trees are due to be felled in Northfields.  Unfortunately no reasons are listed but they are likely to include disease, poor growth, or if a tree is causing structural damage.  The council says it will only fell a tree as a last resort.
