Bus Routes and Proposed Hospitals Reorganisation

At the end of August, EFRA responded to the London Assembly Transport Committee's investigation into bus services in London.  We were responding specifically in relation to the announced hospital reorganisation in North West London.

The key points we made were:

  • That for the West Middlesex Hospital, a one mile extension of the existing E2 and E8 routes from Commerce Road in Brentford to the hospital forecourt would improve access to the hospital for patients and their families who live in central Ealing and to the south of the Uxbridge Road.
  • Extending route 195 from Brentford town centre to the West Middlesex Hospital forecourt would improve access to the hospital for residents of Southall.
  • In addition to extending the E2, E8 and 195 routes to West Middlesex Hospital, it would be helpful if sheltered bus stands could be built at the hospital for the routes terminating there, along the lines of the existing arrangements at Ealing Hospital.
